Speaker Meets Pakistani Counterpart on Sidelines of IPU Assembly

Istanbul: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, met Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Istanbul. Al Musallam commended the strong ties and strategic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Pakistan, highlighting the steady progress in bilateral cooperation across various domains.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam expressed appreciation for Pakistan's constructive initiatives and efforts to promote security and stability in the region. He reaffirmed condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, describing them as a violation of international law and a threat to regional and international peace and security. He noted that Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates submitted a draft emergency item to the IPU General Assembly condemning the attacks, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, supported by 136 countries, and United Nations Human Rights Council Resolution 38, adopted unanimously with the support of 115 countries, reflecting broad international support.

Al Musallam affirmed Bahrain's commitment to supporting security, stability, and peace, while rejecting the unjustified attacks carried out by Iran against GCC countries and Jordan. On his part, the Speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly expressed pride in the longstanding relations between Pakistan and Bahrain, affirming Pakistan's commitment to further strengthening cooperation, particularly in the parliamentary field, in a manner that serves shared interests and supports regional stability.

The meeting also reviewed means to enhance parliamentary cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, contributing to strengthening parliamentary partnership and supporting international efforts to promote security and stability.
