Speaker Highlights Bilateral Talks to Enhance Bahrain-Lebanon Cooperation

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, emphasised the deep-rooted ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Lebanese Republic, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency General Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, highlighting that these relations mark a positive and promising phase of bilateral cooperation across different levels, benefiting both countries and their peoples.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker commended the outcome of the talks held in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during President Aoun's official visit to Bahrain. The discussions aimed to boost cooperation in economic, trade, investment, and social fields, particularly by supporting the private sector and increasing trade exchanges, signaling a focus on sustainable, long-term collaboration.

Al Musallam underscored Bahrain's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, and rejection of any foreign interference in its internal affairs. He also emphasised the importance of preserving Lebanon's diversity and historical values of coexistence. Additionally, the support of Bahrain's legislative authority in reactivating the Bahraini-Lebanese Joint Committee to implement existing agreements and explore new opportunities for cooperation was highlighted.

The Speaker commended His Majesty the King's announcement of the decision to establish a Bahraini diplomatic mission in Beirut, expected to enhance collaboration in the economic, cultural, health, education, and tourism sectors. He expressed appreciation for the shared commitment of both countries to advancing a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. This includes supporting a final resolution to the Palestinian cause that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, the importance of upholding the Arab Peace Initiative, achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, securing the release of hostages and detainees, facilitating the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, and supporting the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan adopted at the Cairo Summit on March 4, 2025, was also highlighted.

The Speaker also commended President Aoun's efforts to reinforce Lebanese national unity, enhance bilateral cooperation with Bahrain, and restore Lebanon's leadership role within the Arab region and on the international stage.
