Speaker hails Bahrain’s human rights achievements

Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam hailed Bahrain’s human rights achievements.

He attributed the steady progress of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain to the royal directives and care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Speaker made the comments following the report which was issued for the year 2022 by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), removing Bahrain from the list of Human Rights Priority Countries.

Al Musallam hailed the achievement which further bolsters the standing of the Government of Bahrain, commending the Government’s steady efforts in this vital sector.

The report reflected the progressive steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to promote and protect human rights. It praised parliamentary elections, growing voter turnout, increasing women’s participation, reflecting the pioneering vision of HM the King’s wise leadership, and the free popular will to exercise rights in a constitutional and civilized manner.

In a statement today, the Speaker hailed Bahrain’s well-established traditions and firm practices in a state that advocates the rule of the law and institutions, tolerance and interfaith coexistence.

He noted that this pioneering model reflects Bahrain’s lofty humanitarian message to the whole world, in upholding the values and principles of peace and dialogue, and through various qualitative and civilized initiatives and projects.

The Speaker commended the concerted efforts made by all state institutions and civil society to further promote Bahrain’s human rights record and continue the march of achievement and progress in this vital sector which represents a priority for the Kingdom.
