Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, sent a cable to Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, strongly condemning and denouncing the renewed terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, which targeted several civilian, economic, and vital facilities and sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The attacks resulted in several civilians, including women and children, being injured.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam emphasised that the escalation by the terrorist Houthi militia, its attempts to target Saudi Arabia, its national resources, citizens and residents, and its threats to the freedom and safety of international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al Mandab constitute a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. He also stated that such actions represent a blatant challenge to relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and reflect the hostile approach of the terrorist militia and its conduct in rejecting efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen and its Arab and Islamic neighbourhood.
Al Musallam affirmed the Council of Representatives' full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and protect its citizens, residents, and civilian and vital facilities. He stressed that any attack on the security of Saudi Arabia constitutes an attack on the security of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He also expressed his wishes for the speedy recovery of all those injured.
He commended the diplomatic, humanitarian, and development efforts led by Saudi Arabia in support of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen.
The Speaker called for a firm international stance to deter and hold the terrorist Houthi militia accountable and to cut off its sources of funding and arms, contributing to the protection of civilians and vital facilities, ensuring the freedom and safety of international navigation, and safeguarding regional security and stability.
