Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, strongly condemned the escalation of terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Speaker Al Musallam said the continued attempts to target civilians and civilian objects constitute a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in a cable to Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al Sheikh, Speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, Al Musallam affirmed full parliamentary solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures it undertakes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and protect its citizens and residents on its territory, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
He commended the efficiency and readiness of the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces and its armed forces in confronting and thwarting these attacks, and their success in intercepting and destroying a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh and other Saudi cities and areas.
The Speaker called on the international community to fulfil its responsibilities and take a firm position to stop the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilians, civilian objects, and religious sites in Saudi Arabia. He urged action to hold those responsible and their supporters accountable, and to implement relevant resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, to help safeguard regional and international security and stability and protect civilians and religious sites.
He affirmed that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's national security and the security and stability of the region as a whole.
