Speaker Chairs Bureau of Council of Representatives Meeting to Address MP Membership Withdrawal Request

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, chaired a meeting of the Bureau of the Council of Representatives. The Bureau reviewed a request submitted by 36 MPs regarding the withdrawal of membership from three MPs. The Bureau decided that the request met the formal requirements and referred it to the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee for study and the preparation of a report, in accordance with constitutional procedures and the rules of procedure of the Council of Representatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bureau of the Council of Representatives affirmed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's remarks reflected a comprehensive national vision and a sincere expression of the Kingdom's conscience and the loyalty of the people of Bahrain. It added that His Majesty's remarks emphasised the preservation of national achievements and higher interests, as well as the consolidation of security and stability in the Kingdom.

The Bureau affirmed that the Council of Representatives stands behind the leadership of His Majesty the King and supports all measures taken by the Kingdom in confronting Iranian aggression, and in addressing those who align themselves with the adversary and choose the path of betrayal, sympathy with aggression, and justification of it.

It stressed the importance of unity and integrity within the parliamentary institution, and of fulfilling national responsibility and parliamentary duties with full loyalty, sincere belonging, and responsibility, emphasising that the nation comes above all, and that Bahrain is a trust of all.

The meeting was attended by Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker; Mahmood Mirza Fardan, Chair of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee; Ahmed Sabah Al Saloom, Chair of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee; Hassan Eid Bukhamas, Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee; Mohammed Moosa Al Balooshi, Chair of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives; and Dr. Saleh Ibrahim Al Ghuthaith, Head of the Legal Advisers Authority at the Council of Representatives.
