Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, emphasized Bahrain's unwavering dedication to supporting Palestinian rights and peace initiatives following the successful conclusion of the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace. This summit, marking the Gaza war agreement and attended by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is considered a pivotal step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam praised the foresight of His Majesty the King, who has been advocating for a Middle East peace conference since the onset of the Gaza war. His Majesty's proactive engagement with fellow leaders to advance peace and international cooperation for a secure regional future was also commended.
Speaker Al Musallam reiterated Bahrain's firm commitment to advocating for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He highlighted that Bahrain will prioritize the Palestinian cause during its impending non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council.
The Speaker underscored the necessity for all parties to honor their commitments under the agreement to promote enduring stability, secure living conditions, and foster an environment favorable to development and prosperity, given the region's rich heritage of coexistence, natural resources, and potential for collaboration.
He expressed gratitude to all participating nations and mediators, notably the Arab Republic of Egypt for hosting the summit. The summit was co-chaired by His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, and His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States, with leaders from over twenty countries in attendance.
Speaker Al Musallam further stated that under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with the ongoing support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain remains committed to pursuing a just and comprehensive peace, backing international efforts, and promoting the region's aspirations for peace, stability, and sustainable development.
