Speaker Al Musallam Engages in Strategic Talks with Turkish Counterpart at IPU Assembly

Istanbul: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, engaged in discussions with Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Istanbul from April 15 to 19.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam underscored that the relationship and partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Trkiye are grounded in shared visions and unified positions aimed at supporting security, peace, and stability, as well as addressing crises that hinder development and progress. He lauded Trkiye's condemnation of Iranian attacks on GCC countries, considering them a serious threat to regional security and stability, while highlighting that Bahrain has been a target of attacks on civilian sites, vital facilities, and residential areas.

Al Musallam noted that Bahrain has successfully intercepted 96% of these attacks through the coordinated efforts of the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Interior, showcasing the Kingdom's high level of readiness and defence capabilities. He also praised the Grand National Assembly of Trkiye's efforts, in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, to ensure the success of the 152nd Assembly.

Numan Kurtulmus emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations across numerous domains and enhancing parliamentary coordination and the exchange of legislative expertise to bolster cooperation between the two countries. He reiterated Trkiye's opposition to Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other countries in the region, expressing hope that efforts by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will help resolve the conflicts. Kurtulmus confirmed Trkiye's support for Bahrain in addressing the threats it faces and stressed the significance of supporting security and stability in the Middle East, promoting peace, and resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
