Manama, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has lauded the speech delivered on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, hosted today by Saudi Arabia to discuss the developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Speaker Al Musallam praised HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s confirmation of the kingdom’s firm stance in support of the Palestinian people in the midst of the catastrophic conditions they are going through.
He stressed the importance of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s statement that “the escalation of the war violates international resolutions and conventions and threatens the path towards a just and comprehensive peace process”, as well as HRH's call on the international community to “urgently bring forth a humanitarian truce that will lift the siege, stop the forced displacement of civilians”.
Al Musallam underlined full parliamentary support for HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s call for forming an emergency and independent international committee to supervise the safety of the Palestinian people, impartially investigate the escalating violence, pursue the release of all prisoners and detainees on both sides, and determine the extent of the damage.
He affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain always backs the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the two-state solution, and the resolutions of the international legitimacy.
The speaker praised the pivotal, leading role played by Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in supporting the Palestinian cause and efforts to bring about comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
