Seoul: The South Korean and Japanese defence ministers will hold talks in Seoul on Monday, as announced by Seoul's defence ministry. This meeting marks the first official visit by a Japanese defence minister to South Korea in a decade. The discussions are set against a backdrop of heightened geopolitical tensions in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Japan's Gen Nakatani is scheduled to meet with South Korean Defence Minister Ahn Gyu-Back on Monday afternoon. During his two-day visit, Nakatani will pay respects at the Seoul National Cemetery and visit the Korean Navy 2nd Fleet.
The talks between these U.S. allies occur shortly after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's recent travel to Beijing. Kim attended a military parade hosted by China to commemorate the end of World War Two, adding a layer of urgency and complexity to the regional security discussions.
