South Korea Reports $5.7 Billion Current Account Surplus Amid Decrease Due to US Tariffs

Seoul: South Korea achieved a current account surplus for the 24th consecutive month in April. The surplus, however, decreased compared to the previous month due to the impact of US tariffs. Data released by the Bank of Korea today revealed that the country's current account surplus stood at $5.7 billion in April, down from $9.14 billion in March.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the total current account surplus for the first four months of this year reached $24.96 billion, compared to $17.97 billion during the same period last year. The goods account recorded a surplus of $8.99 billion in April, with exports increasing by 1.9% year-on-year to $58.57 billion, while imports fell by 5.1% to $49.58 billion during the same period.
