Mogadishu: The Somali National Army (SNA), supported by Ugandan forces of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), liberated the villages of Shaamgare and Raqayle in the Awdhiigle district of the Lower Shabelle region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the operation, part of the third phase of the ‘Silent Storm’ offensive, began in the early morning and involved a brief battle that drove extremist groups from the area, inflicting heavy losses and forcing others to flee.
The liberation forms part of wider efforts to restore state authority and security across Somalia, with the campaign aimed at dismantling extremist networks and consolidating stability in the southern regions.
