Social Development Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Leading Approach to Humanitarian Work

Manama: Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, highlighted Bahrain's leading approach to reinforcing the values of humanitarian work, social support, and solidarity, guided by the humanitarian approach established by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty's continued support for humanitarian and development initiatives within the Kingdom and abroad.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister made the remarks on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, observed annually on August 19. Minister Al Alawi noted that the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have enhanced the social protection system and reinforced the principles of social solidarity and community responsibility.

The minister commended the prominent role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) in advancing the aspirations of His Majesty the King, Honorary President of the RHF, under the chairmanship of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the RHF. He highlighted the Foundation's role in implementing humanitarian, relief, and development initiatives and projects, reflecting Bahrain's values of giving and enhancing the Kingdom's regional and international presence in humanitarian work.

Minister Al Alawi noted that World Humanitarian Day provides an opportunity to renew commitment to humanitarian principles and recognize the efforts of workers, volunteers, institutions, and organizations that contribute to serving the community. He emphasized that humanitarian work is a shared responsibility that requires coordinated efforts and stronger partnerships to achieve sustainable impact.

The minister added that the Ministry of Social Development continues to support initiatives that promote a culture of giving, volunteerism, and social responsibility, while developing social care, protection, and empowerment programs and services. He also highlighted efforts to enhance partnerships with civil society organizations and the private sector, contributing to reinforcing the values of solidarity and social support and building a cohesive Bahraini society.
