Social Development Minister Chairs First Elderly Committee Meeting of 2025

Manama: The National Committee for the Elderly held its first meeting of 2025, chaired by Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chair of the Committee.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Alawi highlighted that caring for the elderly is a top priority in the Kingdom of Bahrain's social policies, as part of efforts to enhance social protection and ensure security for all.

He emphasised the committee's commitment to advancing sustainable care and empowerment services, based on collaboration between relevant institutions, to meet the needs of the elderly and support their role in society.

The meeting discussed updates on elderly care facilities in Bahrain and means to improve services and benefits by expanding partnerships with government and private sectors.

The committee also reviewed progress on the National Strategy for the Elderly and its action plan, in line with priorities for the next stage and to better meet the needs of the elderly.
