Manama: The Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, is implementing necessary measures to ensure the timely payment of April salaries for Bahraini employees insured in private sector establishments, stated Sahar Rashed Al Mannai, SIO Chief Executive Officer.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this initiative follows the legislative authority's approval of an amendment to Decree-Law No. (78) of 2006 on unemployment insurance. This amendment aligns with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to facilitate the payment of these salaries from the Unemployment Insurance Fund. The effort aims to support the private sector, preserve the national workforce, and maintain economic activity continuity.
The SIO Chief Executive emphasized that this measure would promote stability in the labor market and strengthen social protection for Bahraini employees in the private sector. Al Mannai encouraged employers interested in benefiting from the initiative to register on the SIO website (www.sio.gov.bh) by April 28 to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are included.
She clarified that salary payments will be executed based on insurance data recorded in April 2026. Employers are to continue paying salaries to employees through standard procedures, while the SIO will disburse amounts to establishments on April 30. This will occur after deducting applicable monthly contributions, adhering to the insured wage ceiling and approved regulations.
Al Mannai noted that registration requires the employer's approved SIO username and completion of verification via a one-time password sent to registered contact details. Employers have the option to review, confirm, or update the bank account (IBAN), ensuring it is linked to the commercial registration or business owner. A bank-issued certificate is necessary when submitting new details.
