Manama: Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, received a delegation from the Senate of the French Republic, led by Olivier Cadic, Senator representing French citizens living abroad and Chairman of the Bahrain-France Friendship Group, accompanied by members of the delegation. The meeting was attended by Eric Giraud-Telme, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the occasion of the delegation's official visit to Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Fakhro affirmed that the historical ties and enduring strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the French Republic continue to witness notable growth and development across various sectors. He attributed this progress to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in advancing constructive cooperation and strengthening relations with other countries.
The First Deputy Chairman highlighted the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation and exchanging visits between the Shura Council and the French Senate, describing such engagement as a key pillar for strengthening common positions and advancing legislative coordination and cooperation in international forums in support of international peace and security and sustainable development goals.
The two sides reviewed the course of bilateral relations and the close ties between the two countries, emphasizing the strategic importance of expanding parliamentary and legislative cooperation, as well as promoting the exchange of visits and expertise between the two councils.
For his part, Cadic expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and commended Bahrain's development achievements and legislative progress. He reaffirmed the French Senate's commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation with the Shura Council and activating joint friendship committees in a manner that serves mutual interests and advances the partnership between the two countries.
