Manama: The Shura Council is set to host the 'Towards Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development' forum on Sunday, under the patronage of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council. The event is expected to see participation from Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, as the keynote speaker, alongside officials from both the executive and legislative authorities and representatives from the private sector. The forum is supported by the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and the National Bank of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the forum aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to foster dialogue and cooperation among constitutional institutions and to support the sustainability of economic development in Bahrain. The programme will commence with opening remarks by the Shura Council Chairman, following which the Minister of Finance and National Economy will lead a main session reviewing Bahrain's economic fundamentals and ongoing efforts to achieve fiscal and economic sustainability in accordance with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Three additional discussion sessions are scheduled during the forum. The first will explore Bahrain's efforts to attract investment by fostering a competitive and innovation-driven economic environment. Participants in this session will include Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and CEO of the Economic Development Board, and Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, Member of the Shura Council. This session will be moderated by Hesham Hashim Al Qassab, another Member of the Shura Council.
The second discussion will focus on the private sector's role in economic diversification and sustainable development, with an emphasis on innovation, job creation, and support for priority sectors. This session will also review economic challenges and supporting policies. Speakers will include Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, CEO of Tamkeen; Dalal Ahmed Al Qais, CEO of Bahrain Development Bank Group; and Hala Farouk Al Moayyed, Deputy Chairperson of Yusuf Khalil Almoayyed Real Estate and Executive Director of Almoayyed Contracting Group. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, will moderate the session.
The third discussion will concentrate on national development efforts carried out under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, including the Economic Recovery Plan and strategies to strengthen growth in priority sectors. This session will also cover elements necessary to sustain economic progress. Speakers will include Khalid Ebrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain; Maryam Adnan Al Ansari, Undersecretary for National Economy at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy; and Ali Husain Al Shehabi, Member of the Shura Council. Hala Ramzi Fayez, Member of the Shura Council, will moderate the session.
The forum will conclude with closing remarks and a presentation of the final recommendations by Khalid Hussain Al Maskati, Chairman of the Shura Council's Financial and Economic Affairs Committee. The outcomes aim to enhance coordination across sectors on economic matters, support effective policymaking, and develop enabling legislation to stimulate investment, based on the progress made under Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
