Cairo: Dr. Adel Abdulrahman Al Maawda, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee at the Shura Council, participated in the preparatory committee meeting for the Eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments, held in Cairo and chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Maawda stressed the importance of a unified Arab parliamentary stance to support the Palestinian cause and safeguard the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab states against Iranian attacks. He reiterated Bahrain's support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state, underlining that a just solution to the Palestinian issue remains essential for achieving security and stability in the region.
Dr. Al Maawda noted that Arab countries, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, were not party to the recent conflict in the region and had consistently called for peace and good relations. He highlighted that the escalation had impacted security, stability, and development across the region.
He emphasised the importance of Arab solidarity and a clear parliamentary position condemning Iranian attacks and rejecting actions that undermine the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab states. The preparatory committee discussed the conference outcomes, including safeguarding the security, stability, and sovereignty of Arab states against external threats, developments in the Palestinian territories, and a parliamentary vision on strengthening Arab digital sovereignty and protecting national privacy in the era of digital transformation.
