Shura Council Hosts US Congress Delegation to Strengthen Legislative Ties

Manama: Nancy Dinah Elly Khedouri, a member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee and the Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council, welcomed a US Congress delegation, including members from both the House of Representatives and the Senate, during their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Fawzia Yousif Al Jeeb, Advisor to the Chairman of the Shura Council, and several members of the General Secretariat were also present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Khedouri highlighted the significance of the visit in fostering bilateral relations and cooperation between legislative bodies. She noted that such exchanges are vital for sharing expertise and enhancing administrative and technical support for parliamentarians.

The meeting provided an overview of the legislative process within the Shura Council, its collaboration with the Council of Representatives and the Government, and the legislature's role in aiding Bahrain's development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The General Secretariat offered the delegation an introductory presentation on the functions and responsibilities of the Shura Council, the role of its committees, current issues under discussion, and the coordination mechanisms between the Shura Council, the Council of Representatives, and the Government. The presentation also emphasized the General Secretariat's role in supporting Shura Council members. The US delegation was also given a tour of the Council's main chamber.
