Shura Council Committee Reviews Draft Laws on Tax and Investment Agreements with Oman and Korea

Manama: The Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee of the Shura Council, chaired by Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi, has reviewed two draft laws related to the ratification of international agreements.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the first draft law involves the ratification of an agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. This agreement focuses on eliminating double taxation and preventing tax evasion and avoidance concerning income taxes, as outlined in Decree-Law (12) of 2025.

The second draft law concerns the ratification of an investment promotion and protection agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Republic of Korea, based on Decree-Law (9) of 2025. This agreement aims to enhance economic ties by creating favorable conditions for mutual investment, encouraging private initiatives, and supporting prosperity in both countries.

The committee considered feedback from the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission. All parties highlighted the significance of the two draft laws and their alignment with national legislation in the Kingdom.

Following detailed deliberations, the committee reviewed the legal opinion on the draft laws and decided to refer both to the Council Bureau in preparation for discussion in an upcoming Shura Council session.
