Shura Council Chairman Highlights Bahrain’s Support for Parliamentary Cooperation at 16th Asian Parliamentary Assembly

Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is committed to backing the contributions of parliaments worldwide and to strengthening parliamentary cooperation that advances development and progress.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh noted that the principles and values of Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy, grounded in national constants, constitute the foundation for building parliamentary partnerships and for continued coordination with parliaments to develop legislative visions that advance development and promote dialogue, peace, and coexistence among all nations and peoples.

This came on the occasion of the opening of the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), held under the theme: 'The Role of Asian Parliaments in Promoting Dialogue among Civilisations and Cultures in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges and Future Pathways.'

Al Saleh commended Bahrain for hosting the Asian parliamentary meeting, held alongside the 20th anniversary of the Assembly, and expressed pride in the Kingdom's assumption of the Assembly's presidency in 2026, describing it as a significant achievement for Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy.

He noted that international recognition of Bahrain's legislative efforts motivates continued work to strengthen its parliamentary role and support sustainable development through forward-looking legislation. He added that Bahrain's standing at the Arab, Asian, and international levels reflect its commitment to constructive dialogue, peace, stability, and the values of coexistence and tolerance.
