Moscow: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in a session of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in Moscow, on the sidelines of his official visit at the invitation of Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the chairman emphasized Bahrain's pride in its historical relations with the Russian Federation, which have been established and strengthened through the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation. He noted that these relations are built on solid foundations of mutual respect, shared understanding, and productive cooperation across various domains, particularly in the parliamentary, economic, cultural, educational, and vocational training sectors.
Al Saleh conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King to the Chairwoman and members of the Council, along with His Majesty's sincere wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Russia. He commended the ongoing development of bilateral relations, particularly through high-level royal visits, noting the visit of His Majesty the King to Moscow in May 2024 and His Majesty's meeting with HE President Putin, which witnessed the signing of several agreements on trade, economy, energy, and health.
The chairman highlighted that the historic visit reflected the strength and depth of bilateral ties, grounded in friendship, respect, and ongoing cooperation in the interest of both nations. He also underscored Bahrain's support for diplomatic solutions to regional and international crises, and its commitment to promoting peace and stability.
Al Saleh also referred to the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Russia, which contributed significantly to strengthening parliamentary and economic cooperation and saw the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in investment and technology. He noted Bahrain's participation as Guest of Honour at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, led by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, highlighting the Kingdom's keenness to deepen cultural and economic ties with Russia.
The forum witnessed the signing of several agreements and MoUs in media, customs cooperation, tourism, and culture, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. The Chairman highlighted Bahrain's comprehensive and sustainable development under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the guidance of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 strategy.
He emphasized the Shura Council's dedication to enhancing parliamentary cooperation with the Russian Federal Assembly through constructive legislative dialogue that translates agreements into tangible outcomes. Al Saleh also commended Russia's economic policies aimed at ensuring stability and growth, positioning it as a key partner in the global economy. The chairman highlighted that, on behalf of the Shura Council delegation, emphasized that this visit contributes to building bridges of parliamentary cooperation and strengthening the solid bilateral relations between Bahrain and Russia.
