Shura Chairman Highlights Bahrain’s Progress in Combating Trafficking in Persons

Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, emphasised that Bahrain's initiatives and efforts in combating human trafficking are rooted in the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He noted that His Majesty's leadership ensures the Kingdom represents a unique model for safeguarding human rights and preserving human dignity, in line with the National Action Charter and the Constitution of Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the chairman commended the government's comprehensive national actions to enhance the human rights system. He noted their commitment to developing and implementing advanced strategic programmes based on international standards, which boost prevention, protection, and the sustained fight against human trafficking. He also commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and his keenness to achieve governmental excellence in promoting human rights and protecting freedoms.

On the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Al Saleh highlighted that Bahrain's significant international achievements and high global rankings in combating human trafficking highlight its steadfast commitment to national values. He emphasised the Kingdom's historical dedication to coexistence, tolerance, human fraternity, and a firm respect for human rights, including social and religious freedoms.

He noted that the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons serves as an annual occasion to underscore the commitment to combating all forms of human trafficking and continuing to work towards social justice.

The chairman commended the vital role of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons. He highlighted its ongoing efforts in developing national policies and strategies, enhancing procedures for detecting indicators of human trafficking, and coordinating efforts with government bodies and civil society organisations to achieve integrated cooperation in this fight.

He also commended the advanced national legislation system, which forms the legal foundation for protecting human rights. He underscored continued cooperation and coordination to update and develop laws, thereby strengthening Bahrain's leadership in the human rights field.

Al Saleh noted the Legislative Authority's focus on showcasing human rights achievements and informing parliaments of allied nations, during conferences and parliamentary meetings, regarding Bahrain's efforts in combating human trafficking and its commitment to applying global best practices and procedures to ensure human rights for all.
