Shura Chairman hails Bahrain’s efforts on World Day against Trafficking in Persons

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh affirmed on the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, that Bahrain consolidated its position in combating trafficking in persons under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Al Saleh noted the efforts of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister aimed at achieving progress in the protection of human rights in Bahrain, and implementing many initiatives that specialize in combating trafficking persons and applying modern human rights concepts.

The World Day against Trafficking in Persons is celebrated on July 30 of every year, and comes this year under the theme “Reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind.”

He praised the role of The National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIPs), headed by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and its continuous efforts to develop national plans and strategies aimed at raising the Kingdom’s status in this area.

The chairman said that Bahrain’s maintaining its Tier-1 status in the US Department of State’s 2023 Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report for the sixth consecutive year, indicates its continued implementation of the national and humanitarian initiatives aimed at upholding human rights , criminalising human trafficking, and its commitment to international treaties and agreements related to human rights.
