Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, announced the establishment of a Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the Shura Council and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. This step reflects a shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two councils and enhancing bilateral coordination in regional and international parliamentary forums.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh emphasised the joint efforts to deepen the friendship and long-standing historical ties between Bahrain and Russia, in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Vladimir Putin.
Al Saleh confirmed that the formation of the Bahrain-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Committee resulted from discussions he held with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly. These talks took place during his official visit to the Russian Federation on July 14-18.
He highlighted that the formation of the committee reinforces the vital role of Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy in building partnerships and strengthening cooperation with parliaments of friendly and allied countries.
He underscored the Council's continued commitment to enhancing parliamentary relations, exchanging legislative and parliamentary expertise, and adopting best modern practices in parliamentary work, all of which contribute to Bahrain's growth, development, and prosperity.
The Bahrain-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Committee will be chaired by Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council. Its members include Khalid Hussain Al Maskati, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee; Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali, Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee; and Ejlal Isa Bubshait, Deputy Head of the Woman and Child Affairs Committee.
