SHIFA and Amana Healthcare Partner to Enhance Long-Term Care in Bahrain


Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) and Chairman of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIFA), attended the signing of a cooperation agreement between SHIFA and Amana Healthcare – Bahrain. The agreement aims to provide long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation services for citizens under the National Health Insurance Programme (SEHATI).



According to Bahrain News Agency, the signing was attended by Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat). Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah emphasized the Council’s commitment to initiatives that develop Bahrain’s healthcare system, enhancing the quality and efficiency of specialised services for citizens. This aligns with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, focusing on sustainable health development.



Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah stated that the agreement reflects the Fund’s ongoing commitment to integrated healthcare services, including long-term and specialised rehabilitative care. He highlighted that the partnership with Amana Healthcare – Bahrain represents a model of cooperation between the public and private sectors, offering citizens comprehensive treatment options within the Kingdom, addressing patient and family needs while improving quality of life and health sustainability.



The Health Minister noted that the agreement embodies the government’s approach to continuously developing the health system through strategic partnerships with the private sector. She added that the Ministry focuses on expanding services that ensure patient comfort, quality, and safety, supporting sustainable development goals and advancing comprehensive healthcare.



Amana Healthcare – Bahrain, part of the M42 Group in partnership with Mumtalakat, specialises in providing long-term and post-acute rehabilitation services. It draws on the experience of Amana Healthcare in the United Arab Emirates since 2013, adopting an advanced care model offering specialised medical services in a home-like environment centred on patient comfort and family support.
