Second Deputy Speaker Chairs Virtual AIPU Financial Committee Meeting

Manama: MP Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), chaired a virtual meeting of the Interim Financial Committee as part of preparations for the 43rd session of the AIPU Executive Committee, to be held in Cairo in September.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on proposals and views submitted by the Shura Council of the State of Qatar, the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman, and the AIPU General Secretariat. These submissions centered around financial requirements, including guidelines for financial audit and control procedures, terms and criteria for appointing an internal auditor, the internal financial audit system, and the criteria for appointing a chartered accountant as an external auditor.

The committee also reviewed the AIPU's draft 2027 annual budget, prepared by the Union's General Secretariat. Attention was given to the Interim Financial Committee's observations on addressing the deficit in the Union's general budget.

Further discussions were held on a proposal to detail the items of the AIPU's 2027 annual budget. The meeting also included a follow-up on decisions regarding financial matters that were adopted by the 39th conference.
