SCW and EBDAA Bahrain Microfinance Discuss Support for Women Entrepreneurs


Manama: Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), met with Badr El Din Ibrahim, CEO of EBDAA Bahrain Microfinance, to discuss enhancing support for Bahraini women entrepreneurs through concessional financing programmes.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Awadhi emphasized the council’s dedication to monitoring the impact of the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa portfolio, which supports women’s commercial activities to ensure the sustainability and growth of women-led businesses.

During the meeting, representatives from EBDAA reviewed the portfolio’s latest outcomes, highlighting that it has provided 10,568 financing facilities totaling more than BD12.5 million since its inception in 2010, with the fund being recycled over 12 times.

The discussion also included success stories of Bahraini women who have expanded their home-based ventures into successful businesses through accessible financing. This underlined the role of such programme
s in supporting women’s economic empowerment and strengthening the contribution of small enterprises to the national economy.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in accordance with the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
