SCIA President Inaugurates Al Bucheeri Mosque in East Hidd

East Hidd: Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), inaugurated Al Bucheeri Mosque in East Hidd.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to supporting places of worship, under the leadership of HM the King and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasised the role of mosques in promoting virtue, knowledge, and social cohesion.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed commended the collaborative efforts of public and private entities in developing endowment projects to ensure the sustainability and growth of religious institutions.

The event opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Hammadi, followed by a speech from Dr. Shaikh Abdullatif Mahmood Al Mahmood, SCIA member. In his address, Dr. Shaikh Abdullatif highlighted the enduring charitable value of mosques, emphasising their role in fostering spiritual growth, social harmony, and intellectual advancement. He underscored their importance as centres for education, community engagement, and the promotion of peace and development.

Abdulkarim Ahmed Bucheeri delivered a speech in which he expressed gratitude to HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their continued support of religious and social projects that serve the community. He also thanked Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed for his role in overseeing the mosque's completion and extended appreciation to all those involved in the project.

He noted that the construction of Al Bucheeri Mosque cost BHD 2.5 million and incorporates an advanced audio-visual system operated through touch and remote control. Al Bucheeri Mosque in East Hidd covers a 6,735-square-metre plot, with a 2,300-square-metre built-up area accommodating 2,000 worshippers. It includes two halls for social events with a combined capacity of over 320 people, five endowment-funded commercial shops, and dedicated housing for the imam and muezzin.
