SCE President Highlights Efforts to Combat Plastic Pollution on World Environment Day

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), emphasized that environmental protection and sustainability are national priorities for Bahrain. Marking World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5 and themed this year "Beat Plastic Pollution," His Highness highlighted Bahrain's commitment to advanced environmental policies aligned with international trends and best scientific practices, particularly in addressing plastic pollution.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad noted Bahrain's active regional and international presence in environmental forums, along with its adoption of legislative and procedural initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and its environmental impact. He emphasized the Council's ongoing efforts to explore further initiatives and international practices to establish a comprehensive national approach to combating plastic pollution.

HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad stressed the importance of raising awareness, improving waste management, and promoting sustainable consumption for future generations. He also called for stronger community partnerships, as much of the plastic waste stems from daily consumption patterns, urging all sectors to cooperate in reducing pollution and ensuring a healthier, more sustainable environment.
