Manama: As part of government efforts to improve and re-engineer services, the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) developed a new digital service for requests to add environmental licenses, aimed at improving the management of environmental licenses for establishments, enhancing monitoring and follow-up, and increasing compliance with approved requirements and regulations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, under the developed service, the processing time has been reduced from 15 working days to seven, while the number of required documents has been reduced by 50% and the service-level agreement by 25%. The application process has also been reduced to four steps.
The improvements also include enhancing the user interface and experience, simplifying procedures, improving existing systems, converting application forms into electronic forms, and standardising published service information across all channels. These measures contribute to speeding up the application process and improving the efficiency and quality of the service.
Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment, said the service is part of the SCE's adoption of innovative digital solutions that facilitate government procedures supporting investment, improve the experience of citizens and investors, and enhance efficiency.
Al Rumaihi said the service update reflects the SCE's commitment to developing its services to save institutions time and effort and enhance the effectiveness of its operations. She noted that the update is part of a broader plan to develop 50 additional electronic services in the coming period.
As part of ongoing government efforts to develop and re-engineer services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, of which 800 have undergone development and re-engineering across various government sectors.
The development process has been based on proposals and feedback received through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investor feedback and mystery shopper reports evaluating government services. Guidelines and service-level agreements have also been introduced to improve the efficiency of procedures and the quality of services, enhance user experience and support government digital transformation.
