Manama: The Supreme Council for the Environment organised a joint oil spill response drill at the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) port in cooperation with SULB, Bahrain Steel, and the international oil spill response company OSRL, at ASRY port in the Hidd Industrial Area. The exercise, part of Bahrain's national plan to improve readiness for marine pollution, simulated an oil spill and involved immediate reporting, coordination, containment, clean-up, and environmental rehabilitation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, officials underlined the importance of regular drills to test preparedness, enhance cooperation between public and private sectors, and improve technical and human capabilities in responding to environmental emergencies. Participating companies emphasised their commitment to best environmental practices and protecting Bahrain's marine environment.
