Riyadh: Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (GFEAI 2026) highlights its international standing in supporting global dialogue on emerging technologies and its commitment to the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasized the partnership between the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), in collaboration with the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), to support the development of AI ethics policies and practices. This partnership also focuses on the exchange of expertise and capacity building among countries.
He underscored the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science's backing of national initiatives that enhance the Kingdom's presence in international organizations and its cooperation with UNESCO in key areas.
Prince Bader noted that GFEAI 2026 will convene policymakers, experts, and researchers to share insights and develop practical solutions for effective AI governance. He further mentioned that hosting the forum in Riyadh underscores Saudi Arabia's expanding role in supporting international initiatives, reinforcing its position as a global hub for dialogue and cooperation in data and AI. This aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and efforts to foster a more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable digital future.
