Saudi Arabia Welcomes US-Iran Agreement and Highlights Cabinet Decisions

Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran to end military operations and begin detailed negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent agreement, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The position was reaffirmed during the Cabinet session chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet also expressed appreciation for the mediation efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar. The Cabinet reaffirmed the importance of restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its status prior to February 28.

The Cabinet commended the success of the 1447 AH Hajj season, which enabled more than 1.7 million pilgrims to perform their rituals in comfort and safety. It also expressed appreciation to the Supreme Hajj Committee and all entities involved for their efforts.

The Cabinet welcomed a statement issued by International Monetary Fund experts affirming the strength and resilience of the Saudi economy. It also commended the achievements of the National Transformation Programme in 2025 and the gains achieved under the Human Capability Development Programme.

The Cabinet approved a number of memoranda of understanding and agreements in defence, security, culture, health, customs cooperation, mineral resources, food safety, and news exchange with several countries. It also approved the Law on the Management of Seized and Confiscated Funds in Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Crimes, amendments to the Law on Combating Terrorism Crimes and Terrorist Financing, the Entertainment Activities Law, and a number of senior appointments and promotions.
