Saudi Arabia Stresses UN Charter’s Role in Global Stability

Manama: Saudi Arabia, representing the Arab Group, highlighted the significance of the United Nations Charter as a cornerstone of the global order, emphasizing the necessity to respect state sovereignty and territorial integrity while avoiding interference in internal matters.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the statement was delivered by Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, during the 80th anniversary celebration of the United Nations Charter's signing. Dr. Alwasil noted that the increasing global challenges demand a reinforced commitment to international law and adherence to the Charter's objectives and principles to uphold international peace and security.

Dr. Alwasil urged for the equitable and consistent application of the Charter's principles across all nations to enhance the credibility of the multilateral system and build trust in international institutions. He also advocated for ongoing efforts to boost the United Nations' effectiveness in addressing both current and future challenges for the benefit of all member states.

Reaffirming the Arab states' dedication to the Charter's purposes and principles, Dr. Alwasil stressed that international cooperation and multilateralism are the most effective routes to achieving a safer, fairer, and more prosperous future.
