Manama:Saudi Arabia began their Gulf Cup 27 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Kuwait in the opening round of Group A.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the decisive goal in the match came during the second half when a Saudi cross was inadvertently turned into the net by a Kuwaiti defender.
Additionally, Saudi player Mohammed Abu Al Shamat had a goal disallowed due to a foul. Saudi goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi was injured during the match and had to be replaced by Mohammed Al Owais.
This win placed Saudi Arabia at the top of Group A with three points, following a 1-1 draw between Iraq and Oman in the group's earlier match.
