Russia’s delegate to the Security Council confirms that holding elections in Libya will end the prolonged instability.

Russia’s representative to the Security Council, Vassily Nebenzia, affirmed that achieving progress in Libya depends on the joint efforts of all concerned parties in Libya.

He said in a speech before the security session on Libya today, Tuesday, that the holding of elections will end the prolonged instability, and will allow the restoration of sovereignty and stability of the Libyan territories.

The Russian delegate welcomed the establishment of a supreme committee for financial arrangements and the unification of the Central Bank. He expressed his support for Batili’s efforts to settle the political crisis in Libya.

He warned against turning Libyan lands into a space for proxy war, stressing ensuring that all Libyan parties accept the results of the elections, which must be conducted in a transparent and fair manner.

The representative of Russia expressed his country’s readiness for constructive cooperation with all parties, and said that we are concerned about some Western attempts to exploit the Libyan situation.
