Manama: Royal Medical Services has achieved significant advancements in organ transplantation, robotic surgery, and cancer surgery, strengthening its regional and international leadership in these fields. Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services, has emphasized that the hospitals and medical centres under the Royal Medical Services continue to reach advanced medical milestones, reflecting the progress of the military healthcare system and reinforcing its position as a leading centre for specialist healthcare services in line with international standards.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa highlighted the Military Hospital's notable success in precise robotic surgery, performing approximately 200 advanced robotic procedures across specialties such as orthopaedic, urological, and tumour removal surgeries. These procedures utilize the latest medical technologies, contributing to higher success rates, fewer complications, and faster patient recovery times.
The King Hamad University Hospital has also made significant strides in specialist medical services and organ transplantation programs, having performed around 100 organ transplants, including kidney and liver transplants. This achievement underscores the high level of medical competence and national expertise in the field.
In cardiology, the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre has carried out more than 100,000 successful cardiac catheterisation procedures, showcasing its high efficiency and advanced expertise in diagnosing and treating heart disease in line with international medical standards.
Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa further highlighted the Bahrain Oncology Centre's academic and medical achievements. The Gynaecological Oncology Surgery Unit has received European accreditation as a certified training centre in gynaecological cancer surgery, marking it as the first in Bahrain and the Gulf region to receive such recognition from the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology. This accreditation highlights the unit's strong clinical performance, which includes more than 100 complex and advanced gynaecological cancer surgeries within eight months.
The ongoing advancements in the Royal Medical Services are attributed to the support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the continuous support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, along with Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
