Manama: The Royal Medical Services (RMS) - Bahrain Oncology Centre has entered into a cooperation framework agreement with the Zakat and Charity Fund of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. This collaboration aims to support cancer patients and enhance the system of medical and humanitarian care. The initiative is part of broader national efforts to promote social solidarity and strengthen partnerships between state institutions and the community.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the cooperation underscores a shared vision to expand charitable and healthcare initiatives that benefit patients and bolster the centre's treatment, rehabilitation, and research programs. This partnership will help improve the centre's medical and technical capabilities, furthering its mission to provide world-class cancer care services.
The agreement stipulates that the Zakat and Charity Fund will allocate Zakat funds, in line with Islamic principles, to support eligible patients. Additionally, donations and public contributions will finance the purchase of advanced medical equipment and the development of diagnostic and therapeutic services. An online donation platform will be launched to facilitate secure contributions to the centre's health and research programs, ensuring sustainable support and broader community involvement.
Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, praised the partnership, stating that it exemplifies institutional cooperation in Bahrain. He emphasized that it enhances efforts within the healthcare sector to provide assistance and care to those in need, promoting values of generosity and social responsibility.
Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of RMS, expressed his gratitude to the Zakat and Charity Fund for this initiative. He remarked that the cooperation is a significant step in supporting the Bahrain Oncology Centre's services and reinforcing its efforts to deliver advanced, comprehensive healthcare in alignment with Bahrain's vision of a leading, integrated health system that prioritizes patients and their needs.
