Berlin: A recent survey in Germany has revealed a significant increase in interest in electric cars as a result of the sharp rise in fuel prices and current global political developments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the vehicle platform mobile.de stated that based on a survey conducted by the YouGov institute between 25 and 27 March involving 2,226 people, around half of the respondents would take the current global political situation into account when buying a new car, while 43% expressed willingness to switch to electric engines at the current price level exceeding £2 per litre.
The platform reported a notable surge in demand for electric vehicles on its site, with demand tripling in conjunction with military tensions in the region. Enquiries about used electric cars also recorded an increase of 66%, following a previous period of stagnation.
The survey results showed that 45% of respondents confirmed that their choice of engine type is influenced by international economic and political conditions, while nearly one third of those surveyed indicated that they would stick with internal combustion engine vehicles regardless of fluctuations in fuel prices.
