Revamped eKey 2.0 App Sees Over 13,000 Registrations Within a Day of Launch

Manama: More than 13,000 users have registered for the newly launched Revamped eKey 2.0 app within just 24 hours, as announced by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Qaed highlighted that this impressive uptake signifies the public's awareness and advanced digital culture in Bahrain. It also reflects the eagerness of citizens and residents to leverage modern technologies for accessing various services. Al Qaed emphasized that these initial registration numbers bolster the Authority's efforts toward digital transformation, in line with the Government Programme for 2023-2026. This programme focuses on the digitisation of services, enhancement of government systems, adoption of modern technologies, and improvement of user experience while maintaining high security standards.

The iGA encourages the public to download the Revamped eKey 2.0 app, which is available on the eGovernment Apps Store, bahrain.bh/apps, as well as on platforms such as iOS, Android, and Huawei. Feedback and suggestions are welcomed via the National Suggestions and Complaints System, the Tawasul app, or through direct contact with the Government Services Contact Centre at 80008001.

Developed in collaboration with Beyon Connect, part of the Beyon Group, the app offers digital ID authentication for accessing eServices from both government and private sectors with enhanced security. It includes features such as password-less login using facial recognition and enables users to authorise third parties for transactions. The app also empowers users to control data sharing with service providers based on their consent, among other functionalities.
