REPUBLIC OF KOREA CONTRIBUTES 4.4 MILLION USD FOR HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE, DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION TO LEBANON IN 2023

The Government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) is contributing 4.4 Million USD to Lebanon in 2023. The aid is to support vulnerable Lebanese and refugees as well as to provide capacity building for Lebanese local institutions and communities. The support includes: medical and food assistance, livelihood empowerment, renewable energy, solid waste management, street lighting, mine clearance and capacity building. “After three years of the unprecedented crisis, vulnerable people affected live in poverty and can no longer cover their basic needs. As a Korean, I know how important it is to come together as a community and show solidarity with those who are suffering. We extend that same solidarity and spirit of compassion to those suffering in Lebanon,’ H.E. IL Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lebanon said. Ambassador Park recalled the financial support of 50,000 USD from the Government of Lebanon to Korea during the Korean war to protect freedom and democracy of the country. This contribution comes in addition to the efforts put forth by Korea in support of peace and stability in southern Lebanon through the Korean Battalion Troop to UNIFIL, which also aim to increase capabilities of local institutions and communities.
