Manama: The General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives organised a lecture in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) on cultural heritage and national identity. The lecture was delivered by Mohammed Jamal, heritage and popular culture specialist and researcher, and attended by officials and employees from the General Secretariat and the BIPD.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Jamal addressed several key topics, focusing on the concept of popular heritage and its importance in building social awareness, as well as its key role in preserving national identity and historical memory. He also highlighted key areas of oral heritage and its elements that reflect the depth of Bahraini society and its cultural and civilisational diversity.
The lecture also covered the importance of documenting popular cultural practices and linking them to contemporary life. It presented examples of Bahraini arts and traditions that reflect the spirit of social cohesion, while emphasising that preserving heritage directly contributes to enriching national memory and strengthening pride in the Kingdom of Bahrain's rich cultural legacy among different generations.
