London: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with the Bahrain All-Party Parliamentary Group at the UK Parliament in London. This meeting was part of the official visit by the Council of Representatives delegation to the United Kingdom, initiated by an invitation from Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam highlighted that the legislative authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain operates under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The authority is dedicated to advancing parliamentary diplomacy and fostering active partnerships with other countries. This emphasis on diplomacy and partnerships is aimed at promoting dialogue and enabling the parliament to play a crucial role in supporting cooperation with other nations.
The Speaker stressed that the parliamentary cooperation between Bahrain and the UK is rooted in close, longstanding ties that extend beyond the exchange of expertise. It serves as a platform for developing shared visions for stability and sustainable development and for using constructive dialogue to enhance cooperation and address common challenges.
Al Musallam praised the Bahrain All-Party Parliamentary Group for its role in building strong mutual understanding, expanding parliamentary partnership, aligning views on shared issues, coordinating international positions, and supporting agreements between Bahrain and the UK for the benefit of both countries.
Afzal Khan, Chair of the Bahrain All-Party Parliamentary Group, remarked on the historical and strategic ties between the two kingdoms, which provide a framework for advancing democratic values and enhancing legislative cooperation. He emphasized the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in achieving mutual integration.
Khan also acknowledged the efforts of His Majesty the King in promoting tolerance and peace and welcomed his initiative for an international peace conference in the Middle East. He highlighted Bahrain's ongoing active role in supporting global stability and security.
