Manama: Bahrain-based S/L Architects has won the "Best Architectural Design for Public Buildings Renovation" award for the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) Grandstand redesign project. The award was part of the 2024 Luxury Lifestyle Awards, held annually in New York, USA, to honour innovative architectural projects and highlight advancements in the field. According to Bahrain News Agency, the award-winning design, led by Bahraini Principal Engineer Marwan Lockman, Founder and Director of S/L Architects, was recognised for its distinctive approach to the REHC Grandstand project. The design met the highest international standards while considering climatic and environmental factors that harmonise with the geographical and natural surroundings of the Club in Al Raffah. Engineer Lockman expressed pride in receiving the prestigious award, describing it as a significant achievement for the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that the REHC Grandstand redesign is an exemplary model project for the Kingdom, re inforcing its reputation for innovative architectural excellence and supporting the Club's vision to maintain its position as a venue for international horse racing standards. He emphasised S/L Architects' commitment to delivering unique engineering and architectural designs, citing the firm's previous successes, including the Al Dana Amphitheatre project, which has won multiple international awards and featured in renowned publications such as the RIBA Journal (Royal Institute of British Architects). He also extended his gratitude to all partners who supported the project, highlighting the award as an incentive to continue striving for further achievements.
