Mugello: Spanish rider Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse claimed his first MotoGP sprint race victory after winning Saturday’s race at Italy’s Mugello circuit. Fernandez, who started from second on the grid, took the lead on the opening lap and held off fellow Spaniard Jorge Martin of Aprilia to secure victory.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Italian rider Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing finished third, while championship leader Marco Bezzecchi placed fourth ahead of Ducati’s Marc Marquez. The victory moved Fernandez up to fifth in the overall standings, while Martin reduced the gap to leader Bezzecchi to 12 points ahead of Sunday’s main race.
