Qatar’s PM arrives in Ukraine to try de-escalate war

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman arrived on Friday in Ukraine to discuss mutual files.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the prime minister will convey greeting from Amir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The statement added that the Prime Minister’s visit came as part of Qatar’s efforts to deescalate the war in Ukraine and address the resulting humanitarian needs.

Bin Abdulrahman will discuss “important issues” with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, the statement added.

The Qatari prime minister will reiterate Qatar’s backing for international efforts aimed at extending the grain deal during his meetings with Ukraine’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Bin Abdulrahman will explore ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields and review Qatar’s “developmental efforts” in Ukraine, it councluded.
