Qatar Expels Iranian Embassy’s Military and Security Attaches Within 24 Hours

Doha: The State of Qatar has officially declared the military and security attaches of the Iranian embassy as “persona non grata,” giving them a timeframe of twenty-four hours to exit the country. This directive also extends to the staff members associated with these attach© offices.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this announcement was made during a meeting between Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Ali Salehabadi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Qatar. The meeting underscored the seriousness of the situation as Qatar delivered the official note to the Iranian embassy.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs justified the expulsion, citing repeated Iranian actions that targeted and aggressed against the State of Qatar. These actions were deemed as violations of Qatar’s sovereignty and security, contradicting the principles of international law, the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2817, and the principles of good neighborliness.

The ministry further emphasized that any continuation of this hostile behavior would lead to additional measures aimed at safeguarding Qatar’s sovereignty, security, and national interests, aligning with international law provisions.
