Putin: Russia is ready to resume grain deal once west meets its obligation

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed his country’s readiness to resume the grain deal once Russia’s conditions are met.

This came during a phone call between the Russian President and Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan Wednesday, said Russian Presidency.

The Russian President stressed that Moscow was ready to return to the Black Sea grain deal as soon as the West met its obligations with regard to Russia’s own grain exports.

Russia is working on finding ways to deliver Russian wheat to needy countries free of charge, he added.

The two sides agreed to continue contacts, including preparations for a possible visit by President Putin to Turkiye.

On July 17, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement to guarantee Ukrainian wheat exports from ports on the Black Sea, after accusing Western countries of not implementing the second part of this agreement related to guaranteeing Russian grain and fertilizer exports.
