Manama: Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, chaired a strategic meeting with key officials from regional and international organizations. The meeting featured Khaled El Mekwad, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain; Dr. Rashed Al Marri, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council Emergency Management Centre; and Dr. Ahmed Qazziz, Assistant Minister of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management of the Syrian Arab Republic. It occurred alongside the seventh meeting of the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction, hosted by Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan highlighted the Kingdom's dedication, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhancing regional and international cooperation in emergency management and disaster risk reduction. This commitment aligns with the objectives of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
The Chief of Public Security also recognized the support and guidance of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence Council. He emphasized that the Interior Minister's directives have significantly contributed to raising public awareness, promoting civil protection principles, and adopting modern technology. These efforts are part of a forward-looking vision aimed at constructing a smart and sustainable security system in line with global advancements.
Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing joint cooperation and coordination in disaster risk reduction, capacity building, and developing comprehensive early warning systems to improve national and regional preparedness. Participants reviewed Bahrain's efforts in advancing its national civil emergency framework and its pivotal role in supporting joint Arab action in this field.
The visiting officials praised the exceptional organization of the Arab meeting and Bahrain's commitment to enhancing response and preparedness strategies. They expressed their dedication to fostering future partnerships that promote human security and sustainable development throughout the region.
