Manama: The Public Health Laboratories have been awarded ISO 15189 accreditation by the International Accreditation Service (IAS), underscoring their excellence in reference testing for viral diseases such as measles, rubella, influenza, and emerging viruses.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Amjad Ghanem, Head of Public Health Laboratories at the Ministry of Health, stated that this accreditation reflects the team's dedication to maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism. It also elevates the laboratory's reputation as a regional reference center for viral disease testing.
The accreditation process was comprehensive, involving updates to the quality management system, extensive staff training, revisions of standard operating procedures, and both internal and external quality assessments. The process culminated in a thorough on-site evaluation conducted by experts from IAS, ensuring that the laboratories meet international standards.
